The British Columbia Association of Teachers of Modern Languages (BCATML) is proud to host Celebrating Languages 2022! This edition of our premier professional development conference for second language educators will take place on October 21, 2022. The call for proposals is now open. Deadline to submit proposals is Monday March 7th, 2022.
This year, we are planning for an in-person event at the Executive Hotel Airport Vancouver in Richmond BC, as permitted by PHO orders.

Selection Process
Proposals will be selected by the program selection committee for BCATML based on their relevance to the themes and conference strands listed above, ensuring that the conference program offers a balanced, comprehensive, and diversified choice of sessions. The committee may also consider such criteria as the language of presentation and the type of second language program. Furthermore, the committee shall consider the following elements when judging the overall quality of proposals:
The program selection committee reserves the right to request modifications to proposals prior to acceptance. If accepted, speakers may be invited to present in formats other than the one they selected. Presenter Registration Rate

Presentation Dates
Conference presentations will take place on Friday October 21, 2022. Session Materials Lead presenters will be given the option of providing access to their digital presentations for conference attendees. The presenter coordinators will communicate with the lead presenters to explain the procedure for sharing presentations. Session Technology Currently, we are planning for an in-person event. All workshops will be held in-person; no workshops will be recorded nor streamed online. However, please note that if PHO orders and/or BCTF recommendations regarding in-person gatherings change, the workshops will be offered through ZOOM video conferencing technology. |
Confirmation of Sessions
The lead presenter will receive notice via email of the status of the proposed session in mid to late April. If the proposal is accepted, the lead presenter must confirm participation and register for the conference by mid May, 2022.
