Educational Resources for Second Language Teachers:
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and the indefinite closure of all schools in BC for the remainder of this year, the Executive Committee of the BCATML would like to let teachers to know that you are not alone, and we are here to help and support you. We are not sure what classes will look like after the conclusion of spring break 2020, but we would like to provide a few websites and sample resources you may wish to explore with your students upon your return to school. This list is not exhaustive, but is meant to inspire you to get you started.
If you would like to share any resources you have created or sites you think would support your colleagues, we would love to post them here. Please contact either Rome Lavrencic (psac51@bctf.ca) or Meaghan Bowes (mbowes@saanichschools.ca) to have yours uploaded here for teachers to download freely.

Educational resources for language teachers:
COVID Bingo:
This worksheet allows students to examine their stay-at-home practices and see if they can achieve a Bingo. This particular version of Bingo focuses on the use of the passé composé (past tense) and tries to instill in students the need to communicate with their family members while at the same time, think and work in the target language doing safe and social activities at home. The Word version of the document is easily modifiable to allow teachers of other languages to modify the text to the desired target language. This document is currently available in French, Spanish, and English. Authors: Rome Lavrencic & Kindra Harte ![]()

Matt Lemanski shares with you a list of pandemic-related activities he created recently.
Although his focus is on English, many of the ideas could be adapted to other languages with little difficulty. He also hopes to add downloadable PDFs soon, as develop the activities into complete lesson plans. Hopefully your will find his website helpful. Vocabulary for a global pandemic - IB French suitable resource

Elemi recently put together a free list of French vocabulary and language related to the global pandemic. It has proved popular with students who want to express themselves either verbally or in writing about current issues and challenges.
While the author, Danièle Bourdais, originally designed the list for learners of IB Diploma, the vocabulary could be of help to a range of learners of French.
Elemi also produces resources for IB students both at the Ab Initio and Diploma level for French, German, and Spanish.
