![]() School District 58 (Nicola-Similkameen) received a Ministry grant to support Indigenous language learning in the Nicola Valley. As part of the B.C. Ministry of Education's mandate to reflect Indigenous worldviews and perspectives in the the kindergarten to Grade 12 curriculum, the grant is designed to support Indigenous language curriculum, programs and policy. Read more from the Merritt Herald. ![]() The BC Teachers’ Federation is seeking one BCTF member and one alternate who are working in the area of Core French and willing to participate as BCTF representatives to a Ministry of Education Stakeholders Committee on the BC Teacher Shortage in French programs. Applicants need to be current BCTF members in good standing. The role of this committee is to create an action plan to address the teacher shortage in French programs (Francophone, French Immersion, and Core French), and to assist with the implementation of the action plan. The committee will meet on May 31st in Vancouver and thereafter on an ongoing basis until an implementation plan has been created and carried out. TTOC release costs, travel expenses including flight or mileage, accommodation, and meal per diem will be covered by the Ministry according to government guidelines. The University of British Columbia is conducting a research project on curriculum implementation in French as a Second Language programs (French Immersion, Intensive and Core French). As part of this project, UBC has developed an online questionnaire for FSL teachers to provide feedback specifically on curriculum implementation in French programs.
